Mary Enfinger

Licensed Unity Teacher

Although Mary was born in Oakland, California, she came to Pensacola in the 1960s when her father returned here to retire. She earned a Bachelor's degree and later a Master's degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She taught Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten in the Escambia County School System for over 36 years. While teaching she also coached the Sherwood Running Team, which was a running program for elementary school children to train and participate in up to 10 local road races each year. This program allowed children from all ability levels to discover the "Power Within" by setting goals, positive thinking, and working at balanced training. Mary was honored as Teacher of the Year at Sherwood Elementary and was also the recipient of the "Lou Gregory Award," the most prestigious award given by the Pensacola Runner's Association.

Mary and David were married at the Pensacola Unity Church when it was on Moreno Street. Together, they raised three sons are now proud grandparents of seven grandchildren. As students of Unity, Mary and David became members of Unity of Pensacola in June 1989. Mary volunteered with the Children's Ministry and David served as the sound technician for over 10 years.

Unity of Pensacola first encouraged Mary to begin her study when she was team leader for the Children's Ministry. She was a member of the first class qualifying as a "Spiritual Educator" for the young people of Unity in June 1993. She completed her licensing requirements to become a Licensed Unity Teacher in January 1997. Since then, she has served at Unity of Gulf Breeze and is currently serving at Unity of Pensacola.
